HotShot Lucy  ' Lucy'

2004 AQHA sorrel mare * 15 h *  1150#

Lucy is one of our best mares ever.  She is broke to ride but not finished.  You can get on after 6+ mos off and she will ride out without a buck or hump in her back. She is smart, athletic and a powerful ride.  We broke her out at 3 then the girls ( then 12 & 13)  took her to our county fair to show.  She got blues!  Pretty good for her first time off the farm.   She has since been off having 2 colts for us.  Her first colt is High Lonesum Pine out of our stallion Pines Scooter Whiz.  Her second colt is HotShot Whiz - a sorrel filly out of the same cross.

Lucy is an OUTSTANDING mother, good milker, lets us handle her colts.   We still go out and get on her periodically.  Lee jumped on bare back in Feb.'09 with a rope hack and she neck reined and moved off leg pressure.   She is a Tiger Leo bred mare and we really like her bulky build, chrome and outstanding disposition.

2/1/2010 ~ we saddled Lucy up and Lee rode her around for about 5 minutes.  No round pen work, just saddled and rode off.  She didn't flinch or bat an eye.  We put Lane up and he rode her around for about an hour.  We left Ethel ( 2009 baby ) out in the yard with her aunts/uncles so Lane only rode around the place.  This is the first time Lucy and Ethel have been separated.  Lucy did great, got nervous once when Lane got too far from the yard and tried to go back to the yard once but was easily convinced to keep riding.  Lane was surprised by Lucy the first time asked her to go thru a snow drift:  she cleared it with a foot to spare!  The look on Lane's face was one of total shock then astonishment that he rode that jump!  No other offers to jump and she was moving off his legs and neck reining nicely ~ she could use a tune up ~ That will come when the weather clears up.  She will be Lane's regular mount till Drifter is ready or she sells.
